Henry Coe State Park March 16, 2013 - Agua X
« on: March 18, 2013, 01:09:12 PM »
From Morgan Hill Nightrider list:

"Not sure we're going to get enough agua for an Agua Extremo this year so we are talking about an Agua-X this Saturday.

Route: Cross Canyon, Hoover Lake, then down to East Fork Coyote (big) Creek, up Bear Mtn, County Line Road, Missip Lake. Roller Coaster return.

Start 9:00 am at Hunting Hollow.

Bring enough food for all day and a change of socks.  Plan to get your shoes very wet.   Target completion  5:00 - 6:00pm."

We began at 9:26am. Agua Extremo first timer Todd had left his Camelbak at home. It took some convincing but he rolled out with us and completed the ride by “crowd sourcing” food and water.

Going up Grapevine Trail:

…and Coit Springs Trail:

This switchback on Cross Canyon Trail is getting washed-out:

At our lunch break at the top (Cross Canyon Trail & Willow Ridge Road), Jeff G & Paul B

…and later Chris K rode through:

Sun over Hoover Airstrip:

Roy descending the Hoover Lake Trail:

From Hoover Lake, we rode north on Willow Ridge Road. At the intersection with Willow Ridge Trail, Todd and I opted to descend that. Mike went on to Rat Spring Trail and rode solo the remainder of the day. The rest of the group went down Organ Donor. Todd and I got to the bottom of OD just in time to see them finish it.

Bear Mountain Road streambed riding:

Okay, we’ve been on the trail for a while now. Hmmmm, what time is it??? It’s Bear Mountain o’clock!:

Bear Mountain never disappoints:

Mississippi Lake:

3:20pm, Mississippi Lake, the group splits again. To meet the promised 5 – 6pm completion, Jim, Eric, and Todd took Roller Coaster back. Heard later from Jim that they arrived at Hunting Hollow on time (5:23pm).

Greg, Roy and I took the long way home.

(Pacheco Creek Trail)

We cleared a small pine off of the Heritage Trail:

In the foreground is my new Blur. Worked great, my only complaint was a sore neck late in the day. I think it’s just a matter more acclimatization.

Greg on Tule Pond Trail:

…and Roy on Grizzly Gulch Trail:

We got back to the cars at 7:20, just before sunset. Another fun "Agua" ride!

Skyline, you heard me! I was just asking Roy for pictures!!!

Looks like a very fun and fine day. Thanks for posting the report. Loved it! Especially, the "crowd sourcing" part. You geek! The spoke repair was brilliant as well!
Inch by inch, I will get there.
