It was glorious on the west side today. I was denied my onsight by a combination of factors - not the least of which was massive poison oak thickets and vines at the potential "gates" to the climb. I may have to go back and do some advance scouting on a Friday to bag this one.
We met Mittens - he was climbing with Ryan(who we met at Mud's bday climb-in) and we saw them high on Cuidado while we were enjoying some repeats on Chockstone. We were surprised by the lack of visitors today.

I resemble that remark!

By Seasonal Pinns climbers you must mean the bad-asses who spend their time whoring themselves out to granite all summer while lowly slugs like myself sweat it out bagging obscure onsights made of crud...

Quit sniveling - you got in a lot of good granite this summer yourself.

Hell, I'm down here in Santa Barbara right now, climbing sandstone! (We dropped off Katie on Sunday and thought we'd hang out and climb/camp/B&B/generally try life with no kids again.

(More) slight thread highjacking:

The only text we'd received from Katie as of this morning:

"Thanks for letting me go to the best school ever; I love it so much."

Apparently she's liking it (and classes don't start until tomorrow).

Wait a minute, Brad, if you have some spare time now, the Pinnacles guide is a bit dated...

Drivel maybe but snivel?

drivel |ˈdrivəl|
noun
silly nonsense: don't talk such drivel! See note at nonsense.

snivel |ˈsnivəl|
verb ( sniveled , sniveling ; Brit. snivelled, snivelling)
cry and sniffle: Kate started to snivel, looking sad and stunned.
• complain in a whining or tearful way: he shouldn't snivel about his punishment

But what about the Pinns?

Wouldn't you rather go to a National Park versus some random place in the woods (unless...)?

Tis the season - I don't care what they all say.
We were on the west side today. Sun angle is just right for shade all day at the Flumes.
I'll do a TR later...

Maybe Pinns season is closer than I thought. We climbed at Chipmunk Flat today. Upon arrival (just before 11:00) it was 47 degrees. The wind was howling and, with wind chill, it was probably in the 20s.

We did one climb (two of us almost dropped cams because we couldn't feel our fingers). Then we retreated to a warmer spot (only to thrash ourselves on an as-yet-uncleaned, middle 5.10, offwidth first ascent).

Definitely doing the hot shower thing tonight.

Speaking of our climbing today, I need and request the help of our Mud'n'Crud community. I was defamed today, by one of my climbing partners. Yes, we did a bit of an approach, but to post this photo with the caption "A Typical Brad Young Approach?"

If, as I suspect, this community is outraged by this comment, I will gladly post the offender's name and email address and then we can all get him!
