I'm a little hesitant to drive on my own in case this eye thing relapses. I'll see how tomorrow goes. Could anyone give me a ride there from SC on Friday or Saturday? Unfortunately I would also need a ride back by 1145 Sunday for family obligations.

Hey Adam I'm thinking of driving up in the morning (Saturday), possibly with Dan Medeiros. We could go back early on Sunday if you want. 831 345 3380

adam

ive had these for decades and still remember how scary the first one was

i know them as aural migraines - my light show hits about 45 mins before the pain

but yours may not include the actual head pain and be ocular only

happy to talk to you about my experience

my advice is to still go this weekend (and have FUN!) but be mindful of changes in caffeine

The "best" climber is the one having the most fun.

Atom, was it like a kaleidoscope on a bad trip? Thats an ocular migraine.

Salt and caffeine double dose will set them off often.

Dina and I had a wonderful time.  Thank you everyone for making it such a great weekend. F4 thanks for reserving the campsite and motivating people to join the fun.  Mr. Mud thanks for the mugs!

Dearest beanolar: if you'd stuck around long enough yesterday we would have tied you into the sharp end and sent you up to do some drilling yourself. We would then have given you new route naming rights. AND, after that experience, you would never have used the words "throw in a few extra bolts." One does not "throw in" bolts (unless "one's" first name is Sylvester).

I for one am quite glad that you two came. It's been a long time since I've enjoyed my first five minutes of talking with another person as much as the first five minutes I spent talking to Kristin...  ;)

Kristin and I might benefit by chewing Orbit gum - she might need a constant supply and I should probably try it while learning new techniques and lead bolting :)

Other highlights:

- Tricia leading three routes (including the Middle Route on the West Face of First Sister in one push);

- Adam's toprope of Topsy Turvy (all in dude, all in);

- Getting three new routes done myself;

- Getting to know Aaron better (and getting to know his wife Dina a little too);

- The mugs (thanks again Dennis; thanks for what you did for me, thanks for giving one to Vicki, and thanks for making sure that one was set aside for CruxLuv);

- Doubling the number of Cochran daughters that are part of our "crew" (great girls, Jon - just great);

- Little bitty K.C. learning to jumar on an overhanging rope;

- Seeing J.C. and Adam go grab a couple of summits together;

- Just having Vicki there;

- James hiking out to Tiburcio's and "bagging" his first Pinnacles summit;

- Seeing 28 turkey vultures in one tree ("going to watch TV");

- Having my partner Scott get out and hike some, and, mostly, meet some of the nuts I tell stories about on work days.

Another excellent trip.

I'm not sure I understand the "Orbit" reference, but I surely get what it would be designed to remedy   ;D

I thought KC was a "burly" girl ;)

How about my Houdini act? Not sure if that was a highlight or a low point!

KC was bad ass, look at that pic of her.

JC you did a reverse Houdini. It was amazing.

Aaron's bit sucked.

Aaron , JC and Brad, great leading on the FAs and drilling.

The ladies were sure having a good time on the Toe, lots of laughing.

Rachel finally climbed the high wall at the gym tonight. This is a huge deal for her.

Ahhhh - the reverse Houdini - completely bound up - Atom is the one who busted free :)

Good to know Rachel is ratcheting her game up a few notches!

Weren't we a "few" nuts short?

I guess the important ones were there at least....

My highlight was getting 2 mugs out of the deal!

We brought our 1st Gen Mug to the gathering just to show to the folks what it looked like as it was a very limited edition. Who would have thought that F4 stole it off the picnic table when he snuck out on Saturday night!

Good thing he did because we completely forgot about it. At least it is sitting not too far from us right now, although who knows what F4 is doing with it at this moment.
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Me? I saw that it needed protecting and placed it in a safe place.

I am drinking red wine with it.

I need a refill.
