Back 15 years ago and longer I used to "prove" to Katie that I was her superior (and thus correct about everything) by reminding her that "I'd led Feed the Beast" (the 5.11c route at Pinns). The usual response was a groan (for the uninitiated, reference paragraph 4.7.3 of Section II of The Father's Instruction Manual).
Nowadays her backpacking guide job is going very, very well. She's great as a guide. As an example, on a recent trip she had a guy in his 50s who was struggling. She quietly started slipping weight from his pack into hers. Some of her work has also involved what they call "portering," which is exactly what it sounds like. She carries a 100 liter pack when she porters. One hundred liters!
And, as we continue to learn, apparently, a university education made her clever.
