Nicknames
« on: March 19, 2014, 02:02:18 PM »
 Just wondering.

What does the F4 stand for. (I didn't say what the F4, and hope that is not the answer) We haven't met that I know of.

MR and Mrs.Mud, Munge, and Cruxluv are self explanatory but how did they come to be?. I suppose Atomizer is good at pinching microscopic features, but what is the story or meaning behind the names?

I thought Mucci might meant something else, then found out it is his real name. Waldo??? Bob fess up. Other than sweetcakes, hot-legs or honey-pie, things only his wife would say, does Brad have a nickname? Aaron?

Squiddo?

Does anyone have a nickname they escaped? Mine in school was Cockroach, then Jaundice, now at the gym it's Burger-boy. Clink was what a hiker at pinns said he kept hearing (clink, clink) when we were putting up a route in 84, 30 years ago.

JC now has access to one that I know of, Uncle Stinky has explained his. Give up some history before the MoM wknd.

Squiddo comes from my last name Siddens and the nickname siddo somehow became squiddo. Few of us get to choose our nicknames, and I'd imagine many of us would hope differently!

SO, where does Clink originate from?

I told one of the rangers about a hiker saying he had heard this clink, clink up by the Balconies, and they said " so you are Clink-Jon " and we laughed. When I couldn't find a name for an email handle then tried clinkjon and it worked.

MudnCrud comes from Months of digging through Pins guidebooks and on line junk to come up with a domain name.  It just happened, then I got this feeling that it was in a guidebook somewhere.  You would be surprised how long I dug around before coming upon Crud and Mud.  The formation.  At that point I wrestled with which to use and decided I liked MudnCrud better.  The handle mynameismud just comes from an old saying back home and how I was feeling at that time.  Starting using it on another forum before adopting it here.  I later realized it was a metal song with a good ring to it.

CRUXLUV was my last license plate.

Or maybe the one before that...I seem to collect them the way some women collect shoes.

My 2x big falls @ the pins were onto a belayer w/ no pro in between (I went into a bush on the 1st one sparing him)....w/ Mungie present.

So Mungie suggested F4?....

The best part was posting on the forum before Brad figured it out.... ;D

yeah, pretty self explanatory. I needed a name, and I was climbing at Pinns a lot, and no one would come down there, cept Brad and F4 mostly.

It really stuck after meeting "Blondie" on b.com and saying "hey, you're not blond" in half jest, and of course, she replied "don't believe everything you read on the internet."

Now, it seems I climb more classic granite than mud, so it feels more apropos to use a handle that may not be reflective of what I climb.  8)
