Henry Coe State Park April 16, 2014

Today's mission is to do a little clean-up on one of my Adopt-A-Trails, the Laurel Trail. It's pretty far out there and no one uses it but I like to do these things.

I planned a simple, expedient ride out on the Coit Superhighway but along the way, the single-track siren called me so up Anza » Jackson » Elderberry Spring I went. The risk is getting delayed and sure enough, here's a fallen tree on Elderberry Spring Trail:

I stopped and cleared the debris so one could go to the left where there is more overhead clearance,

…but the ground slopes-off, it's soft and covered with duff so I expect users will begin to shortcut this corner.

My lunch view on Jackson Road:

Hoover Airstrip again:

While I did some other light brushing in the adjacent area, this was my primary target today:

The fallen pine was very accommodating; it broke off in a manageable section. Plus I did a few yards of Scorched Earth™ brushing:

(There is a go-around of the fallen tree in the back of the photo.)

A view of this section, a steep chute, from the top:

Some scenery on the way home:
