Shot down in flames
« on: June 08, 2014, 05:27:05 PM »
Ain't it a shame?

Exploratory day today - damn near melted.
Carried all our gear but couldn't bring ourselves to suit up - that's a first.
108 on the car temp gauge when we stumbled out around 2:30 - maybe that is a sign for where we need to be when Pinns is roasting.

This pass was pure white when issued (the dark part is baked - it is not a shadow).

65 at the coast and I still have a bit of a headache from the near stroking out hours earlier!

High is forecast for 82 on Wed. Early start to beat the heat?

So what did you explore (other than your stroke threshold)?

That is basically what you can expect on the first few pitches of your first Grade VI on el cap if you go during the summer and climb during the day.

I say that was a good training day.

electrolytes are your friend too, eh?

Today the G2 was my friend.

The PO tried to be JC's friend, but he wasn't having any of it.

I googled "fake poison oak" to see if I could get some to stash in his pack, it doesn't seem to be available. Darn!

I hope you had cold beer in your pack.

Actually if it's open a long route on the shaded Condor crags would be nice.

Still, you'd need some cold beer to hydrate and replenish electrolytes.

yes - I still want to do that route - it's been open since the closure update/revision and it is shaded for a few hours in the early morning :)

Mungie has a point....Jake and I did Resurrection when it was 114.....106 is not bad...yer getting close.

At least you were wise to properly re-hydrate.

That Resurrection trip was bearable until the descent, when we had no choice but to hike in the sun for about 30 minutes in the middle of the day wearing climbing shoes. The metal eyelets on my shoes burned circles onto my feet.
