My summer camp had mountain biking and climbing. Almost no injuries climbing over my 7 year tenure there but mountain bike injuries every single week. Nothing is more frightening than overseeing a mountain biking program for kids. I'm seriously surprised we never had a death.

An old friend who raced motorcycles was told once "son if you aren't crashing, you are not racing hard enough". Words to live by.

I was lucky with my crashes...but it was usually try I g to keep up with my old roommate, who used to race.

Duck and roll we would always say.

I think life is testing me by kicking me in the nuts.  Surgery tomorrow on the collar bone ( this should make it better ).  But, today I went to urgent care.  Kidney stone.  Had one a few years back.  I have two in one kidney that are giving me pleasure and one in the other that does not seem to be bothering me at the moment.  Not feeling real super at the moment.

Mud, that is awful. Hope they pass soon and good luck on your surgery tomorrow.

I didn't know they did surgery on a collar bone? It must be pretty bad.

Maybe you're not feeling too great now, but as a certain wife of mine likes to say: "this too shall pass." And it will.

Just think about how much fun you'll have at the Climber Appreciation Weekend while four of us carry you up to the High Peaks in your own palanquin.

Kidney stone.
Or maybe little pieces of your broken collarbone have made their way to your kidney. :-)

Wishing you the best tomorrow.

Rocky, Horror, Show.

I hear if you sing loudly and constantly it can help pass stones.

Caleb was just telling us about his Dad getting shut down on a hike from kidney stones. Eventually he was helicoptered out of the Banner area. That brought up a discussion on extraction insurance which deserves a thread of it's own.

Mud, thinking of you today, give updates when you can.

Surgery went well.  Felt ok yesterday but woke up fairly sore this morning, i figure this will pass in a couple of days.  from what i can tell with the limited motion that i have at this time is the shoulder movement seems much better.  Kidney stones have called down a fair bit, just a bit of tightness in the back at the moment.  Drugs help.

More good news about the surgery.

And more "bright side" to look at: you've had a surgery and you're not drooling out a hole in your cheek  ;D   ;D

That was on Thursday when I first saw Mr. Mud. At the time, he was all drugged up, in a somewhat blissful state. Even the voice was a little higher pitched than normal.

Last few days have been all sorts of uncomfortable. There is a cut in the shoulder. There are a few little guys in the kidney. And you all must know a main, unpleasant, side effect of pain meds, right? As they say, "come in threes." Hopefully, this is it.
Inch by inch, I will get there.
