Anyone else had site issue this week?
« on: November 14, 2014, 07:48:42 PM »
We received an issue report:
Quote
It keeps giving me weird messages – like my session timed out when I just got on there and tried to reply or quote.

I'm trying to identify if it is a site issue or a browser issue from the user's side. Did anyone experience the same in the last week? Thank you!

I had the site "time out" on me when I'd made a short post. But the message posted when I re-hit "post."

Hmmm... Thanks guys. Okay, I can also reproduce it, but I don't know the fix yet. We didn't make any changes, but last weekend, the server moved to a new OS by the hosting company. I suspect it's related, but unfortunately, I don't know how easy to get around it.

It seems that even though I also get the error, what I tried to save or post still worked either the first time, or when I press the button the second time. So, try to do that. In the mean time, it is probably always a good idea to save the content you are about to post to a clipboard first just in case the post gets lost in this mess.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

I deleted my browser history and the quote function worked - as you can see.

It was a plot to silence us...I was logged out.

Nice try!

I do keep getting logged out.  Perhaps that is what happens when a person does not go to the Pins often enough.

Nope - that's not it - I get logged out frequently.

Somewhere on the internet, it says to resolve the session error, change the login time out to a different value from the default, but the new value is a bit shorter (like two days). So, maybe log in at lease every other day?  ;D

Now, if anyone still experiences session error after having cleaned up your browser history, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm assuming the issue has been resolved.

I am trying to Start A New Topic in the Coe forum, when I click Preview Post I get a message "Fetching preview..." but no preview. The page is finished loaded too (no hourglass or whirling icon, what ever it is called). Win7/Firefox.

Oh, same issue while trying to preview this post. :-(

It seems to be only an issue with FireFox. I reproduced it and found the issue report online (with the forum developers' forum). Made the change and it is working now. Thanks for reporting, Charlie!
