Just a test thread... trying to learn the behavior of the forum
« on: February 13, 2015, 02:57:29 PM »
There are behaviors of this forum platform that we are not fully aware.

If I delete my account, my posts (as replies to other people's threads) are not deleted; and they just show as posted from a guest.

Now, I'm starting this thread as a test. If I delete my account, will this thread be removed because it's started by me? Will find out.

Not sure how else a thread can disappear (other than being removed by Admin users).

Just a test reply to make sure the thread is not empty.
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Hmmm... that did not remove the thread.

How else? Still investigating...

Maybe Dennis removed it because I called him an old fart  ;D

I don't think a thread has ever been removed in total from this site.

If the Muds did it, that's their right and I'm OK with it. But if someone else did, then damn that's chickensh#t.

I do not think I did it by accident, I will in the middle of a reply and had that fail when I tried to post it.
Here's to sweat in your eye

Brad and others, can you help me check at the bottom of the thread screen, do you see a tab (an option) to Remove Topic?

The admins have it by default. When I logged in as a test user, I didn't see it, but I don't know if it's because that was a test user with < 5 posts, thus not at the level to see the tab.

Wanted to check with you regular users if you see it (like what schrammel might have seen). Please try it on a thread you started and a thread you didn't.
Inch by inch, I will get there.

There's your answer. Here's a photo of the bottom of this thread, which I did not start:

And here's a photo of a thread I did start which has been around for a while and which has many posts:

Thank you!

Mr. Mud looked at the right place and saw that indeed a regular user could "Remove (own) Topic." Well... up until 5 minutes ago because we have just disabled the option.

User is still allowed to "Remove (own) Post." We hope people don't do that often (or at all). Everyone must have regretted saying things, but we should do it right by admitting the regret and correcting ourselves, not by trying to eliminate what we said from the history, which cannot be done anyway. Oh, this last bit was not a forum rule, but my personal view.
Inch by inch, I will get there.
