Julius got to do his first improvised Pinns rappel yesterday after we both got in touch with our inner mud by taking turns leading to the summit of Ridge Rock. Sorry - no Jingus for me guys
for anyone wondering what Julius is doing - there is no summit anchor so the easiest thing to do when you get to the summit is sit down, pull up enough rope to rappel a single strand, untie and drape the rope over the top - then rappel off. The belayer never follows or takes you off belay - then acts as your anchor for the rappel. About as funky as Pinns climbing gets.
In my defense I did "lead" the Left side TR on Gertie's (a free solo - no gear possible and no knobs to sling).
Do I get the first FFA?
Doubtful - but at least I can count it as a route done and maybe get a chuckle from clink.
Noal and I will be getting into some nonsense on the west side tomorrow while the gals have another day out.
