Yes, I try to keep stressing the importance of striving for mediocrity but she's not taking the bait - yet :)

Julius got to do his first improvised Pinns rappel yesterday after we both got in touch with our inner mud by taking turns leading to the summit of Ridge Rock. Sorry - no Jingus for me guys :)
for anyone wondering what Julius is doing - there is no summit anchor so the easiest thing to do when you get to the summit is sit down, pull up enough rope to rappel a single strand, untie and drape the rope over the top - then rappel off. The belayer never follows or takes you off belay - then acts as your anchor for the rappel. About as funky as Pinns climbing gets.

In my defense I did "lead" the Left side TR on Gertie's (a free solo - no gear possible and no knobs to sling).
Do I get the first FFA?
Doubtful - but at least I can count it as a route done and maybe get a chuckle from clink.

Noal and I will be getting into some nonsense on the west side tomorrow while the gals have another day out.

Mystery summit from last weekend. I bet no one can guess where this is - Noal and Alex are not allowed to play.

EDIT 8-25-20 - sadly, no one ever guessed. It's the Gopher and whoever scratched their initials in the summit either did a Pinns rappel as I did or downclimbed as the route description suggests (no thank you). It was probably a hiker exploring (climbers don't typically scratch their initials on climbs) - I bet they had a memorable experience getting down.  :yikes:

I'm not feeling the love. I might need a hug after skating around on dirt and kitty litter over unprotected death drops most of the day yesterday with nelkins.
Couldn't someone at least hijack my thread and start talking about things completely unrelated instead of totally ignoring everything I've said on here?

I am impressed you did not mention the abundance of P.O. we encountered yesterday!  After my bare handed removal of the  P.O. bush from that crack I was reluctant to relieve myself for the rest of the day.  No signs so far.

Ahh.

Nice job of discovering unreported old anchors. Mountain of rebolting work to be done in that area.

KC did two fine leads today. Twinkle Toes and Redline. We did a cool single rope circuit to complete the routes - started up Twinkle Toes, rapped down to the mondo lassoable lodestone at the start of True Grit to pull the rope from the Bandits in Bondage rap anchor - then traversed over to the Lucky 13 anchor and up to the start of Redline via p2 of Alias Bandit Bench. "Walked" off to the West Face rap and scrambled down the Destiny Wall walkoff...temps were nice today - didn't start to heat up until we were working our way down. Lazied in the shade, drank beer, talked to some nice folks and even saw two condors from the west side parking lot :)

Makes me speculate about whether it is J.C. or K.C. that has grown and improved the most as a climber in the last four years. Probably the best conclusion is that you've both gotten to a great level of ability and confidence.

Awesome.

Masters of Mud for sure.

More mileage than most of us..

It all started with a stick clip and Brad climbing a tree. ;)
