Wow, just saw the thread. Thanks all! Not typically a B-day party person, so I was certainly surprised by a full on cake, which followed the most traditional Tibetan dinner. And this was at our local guide's most modest home! Memorable for sure.
But right now, I'm just sitting in the car on the side of Hwy 101 waiting for the tow truck to come. Car's oil pan blew up or something. It's about 100 degrees in the car with all the windows down, still a little cooler than that hike we just did at Pinnacles - the Burning Pinnacles.
On our way out, I waited at the upper parking lot when Mr. Mud went to the restroom. Ranger Mak drove by and stopped next to me. I was a little embarrassed to be caught in that situation still carrying my climbing pack. I heard myself explaining, "see, it was Mr Mud's idea..." He knoded knowingly and replied, "that makes sense..."
