Cool summer weekends.
« on: August 03, 2015, 05:59:33 AM »

It has been unusually mild weekend temps for most of July and now into August.

Mud found a sweet virgin summit. Apparently he has observed and personally noted such things and at the current rate of disclosure there will still be a quite a few left for climbers in the next century.

Aaron and Mud left me in the conversational dust about technical operating systems, although I learned a couple of new things. My other partners are not as smart as these guys.

There were also a couple interesting and entertaining climbing stories as only Mud can tell them :)

The climbing was as good as it gets, Aaron called it aesthetic and it was.

WOW - you know how to make a girl feel good about herself!  May have to rethink giving you a belay  :-\

Oops ;D
I was thinking specifically of  Caleb and  Geoff.   >:D

KC might be the most intelligent of all my climbing partners.  JC rides a bike with one wheel and no handle bars. The yin and yank?

This whole thread could appear in "a thread for sharing laughs" because it sure made me laugh.

I'm so glad that Mud has you guys to share his drilling passion with. But one of these days, I want to drag him out to Granite country too. Talk about a cool summer weekend...

We do not do much belaying.  We mostly stand around and talk and ignore each other while pretending to pay attention to the rope.  This resulted in clink climbing way above a bolt before we tied him off and made him drill.  Was cool to talk to Aaron about IT stuff, I do not get to do that very often.

Let's restore the balance.
Our phenomenal "kid" wowed us by onsighting Sound Chaser (her dad's FA) and Relayer on Saturday.

Congrats to Alex! She did it in style too! And I'm not just talking about those tights. :D

Sorry JC, the "ite" talk and the photos can no longer be removed - they are already out there.

You'll have to congratulate Alex when she gets back - the brat is out of the country for a couple weeks.
She mentioned wanting to climb with you.
We forgave her the tights - she is still a young whippersnapper :)

Oh and a big thanks to KC for these shots - I had my hands full keeping Alex safe.

I dig the tights, they are kind of 80's.  The only thing is they do not match her shoes.  Scarpa used to make purple slippers that would go with that outfit perfectly.

Congrats Alex, nice lead.

Nice job Alex!

JC would be so stylin' in tights and color coordinated chalk bag.

Back in the 80's when I was following climbs in the Red River Gorge I fell into a habit of wearing white sweat pants with a white t-shirt that said Outpatient - Betty Ford Clinic. I loved that shirt.
and back then I actually wore a Misty Mountain chalk bag. I still have it hanging on my garage wall - where it belongs.

At Pinnacles dirt is my chalk - sometimes I use a mixture of lichen, moss and dirt. Drill dust works too :)

She's off the grid for about 10 more days. She's so deprived ;)
I doubt she had time to share the news before she jetted off to the Netherlands.
It's phenomenal how quickly she has rebounded from the knee surgery and jumped up through the grades.

Not to mention how much fun she seems to have when she's climbing!
