End of Summer?
« on: August 31, 2015, 08:45:05 AM »
Fun day yesterday with KC and nelkins.
It was only 87 and quite pleasant in the shade.
The morning started out a little Stinky while Noal went Out to Lunch early.
I think this one is going to be good :)

Don't be fooled by Nelkins' right foot - there is nothing there. The angle of the bulge is also understated.

Nelkins - they're all so in awe they're speechless :)

Damn, I just had my first passing thought about maybe, possibly missing Pinnacles (a little in passing). And it's still summer.

Stop this nonsense!

JC, what is the dark crackly stuff at Pinns. A type of lichen or moss?

You are so old, so '70s. Alex probably reads posts like this and shakes her head in wonderment. Actually so would Alice. If she were on Mudn'Crud.

I'm so bummed about the end of summer.  In a month or so it will become too cold to climb at Pinnacles.

My summer is really ramping up.  Have about 1 million dollars worth of stuff that is starting to come in that has to get online.  Plus a couple of other events that have to be pushed through.  Currently have a couple of labs that are down.  Management through corporate bureaucracy.  Spent almost all day yesterday either on the phone, in meetings or sending email.

I believe that would be autumn climbing - the word "fall" is not allowed  ;D

I'm pretty sure you're talking about lichen. You can look at pictures of a bunch of California species here to see if anything matches what your talking about http://californialichens.org/home/photo-galleries/photo-by-spp/

Also, I bet you guys don't know what the state lichen is :P : http://californialichens.org/state-lichen/

Also you guys are the best work distraction ever. I don't even have to leave my desk to get my fill of the peanut gallery.

Your point?

Do not neglect your Facebook obligations. I prefer to look busy with Netflix....one 1 screen with the privacy protector on it...then randomly type on the keyboard (disconnected of course).
I'm not worthy.
