Tessa bags her first Sierra summit...
« on: September 25, 2006, 10:04:14 AM »
Recently spent a couple of weeks at Rock Creek Lakes Resort with the family.  Lugged my 3 old up Mt. Starr for her first Sierra summit.

A couple of days acclimating and her first stringer of fish.  She loved eating the trout.

My 5 month old sets a PR in altitude at 12k.  Probably the youngest kid to get a diaper change at Mono Pass (Tessa held the previous record at 2 years old).

Mom and Shane descend while Tessa takes a break in the snow.

Tessa navigates the final moves below the summit block.

After a bit of arguing, she agrees to let me boost her to the summit block, and signs her first ever register.

We got to talk. I think you're raising your girls the right way. To be independant, able, and self confident in the outdoors. I'm trying to do the same with mine. How old is your "T" now? My "T" (Tricia) is 4 1/2. I bet that at some point we could take them camping/hiking/climbing together? For example, we've been trying to ascend to the highpoints of all 58 California counties for 3 years now. We've got a bnch of them in. It's fun, and gets the girls around to parts of the state we might not otherwise see. We were hoping to hike to the highpoint of Imperial County, or San Diego over Thanksgiving. Any chance you'd join us for a day?

P.S. Looks like you guys were lucky. Your older child looks more like her mother.

Baby T is growed up. Seems like just yesterday she was bouldering at Memorial Boulders.

Brad, Tessa is nearing 3.5.  We might be in the bay area over turkey day, I will keep you posted.  Let us know next time you are down.  I have been wanting to get the Imperial County highpoint for a long time (I am half assed going for all of the CA highpoints too).

She loves to camp in Culp Valley and I am sure they would all love a trip to jtree or anywhere else up that way.

Tessa has the San Diego county highpoint (well, the one that has legal access these days, 2nd highest) under her belt, but that is it.

And on the contrary, the little rat looks just like me, same chin, same ears etc, but somehow she managed to pull it off and be cute.

Cock, I got your message, but I can't figure out how to use the individual message feature. Excellent. I'll phone you early that week and we'll see what's up. I know we're planning on Disney land Thursday itself (prettty sure?).
