With this year's above average precip are mosquitoes a concern at all, or is Pinns still too dry for them?

Not at Pinnacles. And they've never bothered me on the trail. But I've never been sedentary at the low-land campgrounds. I'm mostly just wondering how deep I'll have to burrow my head in my sleeping bag if my wife comes and she and Calvin take up both spots in my 2 man tent.

They have been bad but only for a limited time and temperature range. They come out and eat you alive for a few hours and then it gets too cold and they go away. It usually cools off enough in the shade that you can put on long sleeves and pants and mostly douse your clothes with bug juice to keep them away. Might I suggest upgrading to a 3 person tent? :yesnod:

I think J.C. is talking about a different Pinnacles than I know. But then I thought he was being overly sensitive about poison oak too... until I saw his hand just before he climbed and named "Prednisone Pinnacle."

Mosquitos? Only a very few in the evenings (excluding the tons of them that exist in my wife's imagination). You're young and tough, and it's worth any price if your wife comes along. You'll be fine.

Thanks guys. I think I'll split the difference and consider this a light warm up to the expected mosquito hell that will be the High Sierra this summer.  ;D

Still room for lil ol me??  Love to join the fun.

Hosting The Lady Crushers at my house last night for our monthly potluck, gab-fest, wet my appetite for more of the same with a sprinkling of crud.

The "best" climber is the one having the most fun.

It works wonders! Provided you get comfy looking through mesh.
But if not, Deet works wonders too. As paint stripper.

My plan B is a flamethrower, but no one seems to be ok with that...

My plan is to keep someone that attracts skeeters more than I do nearby. It works well with the flies too. :)

Nah, that only works with bears (you're safe as long as there's someone in your group that you can outrun). With bugs there's just too many of them.

Hey, why didn't anyone get back to Crux?

I think we've got one of the full-size group sites this year. There should be plenty of room for all comers. We'll hope for your attendance.

Nice to know you've got my back, Brad!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

You're little 1,000 shin-dig reminded me how fond I am of you all.

And, by "you all", I mean Vicki.

Of course.

Jesse got the weekend off, so we're in for 2! Please plan to haze him with crud. Maybe hand him a pile of holds when he gets to a belay, then give him the lead ha ha ha
