Re: fire options, I just picked up a little camping Weber (14 1/2") to cook dinner tonight, and I'm more than happy to share grill space if anyone needs some.

Edit: Fwiw we won't arrive 'til late afternoon today.

Thanks to all that made MoM 2017 a blast.
clink, yosomighty and I got out Friday and the two of them climbed some hard stuff – Shades of Madness and Blowing Chunks, while I worked on the anchor for Onomatopoeia. It was right around 3 and I was sitting at the base of Onomatopoeia, yosomighty was on the summit of the Knee and clink was working his way up when we felt an earthquake and heard a sonic boom. Pretty cool since I climbed Boom! to access Onomatopoeia’s summit.
The day had started with some silliness and ended with good food, good drinks and great friends back in camp.

Yesterday we struck more gold at Crud and Mud (Pay Dirt 5.7***).
I was pleased to get the coveted second ascent this morning (after following Jeremy’s top out yesterday) and before adding the finishing touches this morning. Brad, Kat, climberdude and Hope seemed to enjoy it thoroughly.  :thumbup: :biggrin: :yesnod: :smilewinkgrin:

I should also mention how proud I was of Kat for her leads yesterday while I was busy working on the new route. She was on fire leading the 4th Class Route (actually5.2), Just Chute Me 5.6*, Squeaky Clean Mud 5.6** and for the grand finale...mud roll please...Mud Diamond 5.7*** :yesnod: :biggrin: :thumbup: :smilewinkgrin:

According to the USGS, the earthquake was a magnitude 2.9 centered 22km NE of Soledad at 3:34 p.m. :yesnod: :biggrin: :thumbup:

I told yosomighty to get ready for more after the first shock hit.
Now I know why we barely felt the next wave.

Do you remember how finishing your first lead at Pinns felt?  :yesnod: :thumbup: :biggrin:
This was Julia’s first lead ever. We got her started off right with Ashes the Mud and I 5.5**.

beano follows Mud Bath and you can see the ledge clink used to get Pay Dirt going (in the foreground). That cobble sticking up at the far end of the ledge is amazingly solid!

I forgot to mention that with the addition of Pay Dirt there is now a 6, 7 , 8 , 9 sequence of grades from left to right on that wall. Eureka!  :lol: :biggrin: :smilewinkgrin:

That is cool. A 4 grade progression.

Julia was stoked, congrats on the first lead!

I wondered why the lull and then the phone rang at 7:30 this morning. It was Brad.
He got up early and ran up to False Flatiron. He was calling me from up there to talk about my new routes.
I may have to go out tomorrow and do another FA - Phoney Pinnacle  :lol:

Ever wonder why the group sites are so hard to reserve?
Kat was talking to the group in the next site over and they said they book that same site for the next year when they leave the park. They do it every year.

I really liked the site this year except for a couple of things.
There was no nearby water spigot, trash or recycle.
There were porta potties instead of a permanent bathroom facility.
The parking lot had us boxed into a dead end.

As a result I went ahead and booked site 127 for next year. It is the first group site on the right as you drive back.
It has a big tree, it is right across from the bathroom and the parking should be much easier.
Easter is the 1st weekend in April and the next weekend is Friday the 13th so I did the 3rd weekend starting on 4-20.

Nice pix juan! Glad there's reception on the FF - Finally, somewhere I can reliably tweet all those anchor selfies that I take such time to pose for.

Good to get the closer site - I think there's more parking there too.

Yes, excellent weekend. Alas though, definitely the end of my Pinnacles season (I had pleasing mental images of both granite and driving a lot less on the way home tonight).

Over the course of the weekend I:

- Had a great time with friends and family (made a few new friends too);

- Ate well (thanks Vicki, Nicolle, Martha, Alacia and Caleb);

- Had a few beers (thanks Bob and Jon);

- Documented 14 new routes (some new this weekend, others up to a year old);

- Got in 11 new leads;

- Got back into "status;" as of today I've done every route at Pinnacles easier than 5.10; and

- Laughed long distance while in the High Peaks yesterday and today (conversations with J.C. and with Mud himself).

In other news, I returned home a little while ago to learn that, among other family business, another Junior boy asked Tricia to the prom. He's a boy, and so he is suspect at best. But imagine the courage it took to ask her, only to learn that she'd already been asked and had accepted. I almost feel sorry for the little punk.

Alright now, granite here we come. Who's with me?

And really nice going on reserving already for next year J.C. That's an excellent group site.
