Itinerary on dash boards.
« on: December 30, 2016, 08:01:11 AM »
Will the solo artists and adventurers please leave itineraries(with possible deviations) in plain sight on dash boards.

The rest of us should score ourselves on sightings of these individuals in 2017

17 points for a traxioning sighting.
18 points for a ropeless solo sighting
19 points for an emerging from a 1/4 acre or more of brush sighting.
20 points for a solo stance drilling sighting.
21 points for stealing a route sighting.
22 points for a ropeless down climbing sighting.(add 1 point if it is a chimney)

100 points for finding them when they break a leg. 50 points for everyone who helps carry them out.

Add 3 points if a pic is posted as proof.(5 points added if pic also has a condor in it)

no posting on dashboards.  If you are going to on sight free solo a new route no one can be notified until after the deed is done.  Also too, for on sight free solo's, no easy routes, it has to be borderline.  Otherwise, what is the fun?

Alzheimer's Onsights?

A lot of time is spent looking by SAR and the worry by family and friends when there is a no show. Yaks, for example  would cover a lot of routes.

In your case Mud, the scenarios of a car parked after 11pm may be endless. This could be expounded upon. ;)

Being on SAR made me consider it.  Martha finally got me to do it.

I get the go anywhere and free range aspect of a jaunt. No constraints.

If die out there just cover the body with PO, choss and moss.

If you die out there will all your routes be haunted? Dude...this is Christmas season...not Halloween  :nono:
The choss and moss I can do but the PO will have to spring from your rotting corpse.
Here's to PO in your soil-forming cadaver

Speaking of dying out there...
I ticked my last lead on Scout Peak yesterday.
I remember the day NOAL, KC and I went up there to climb some of the routes.
I said I wanted to do the South Face and that the only pro was poor gear and slung knobs.
NOAL said "You don't want to do that." Good advice.
I listened that day but kept looking at the route every time we went up to that area.
I even went up to do it about a month ago with Brad and just walked away.

Brad said the South Face 5.5R will be redesignated 5.5X.

No I didn't. I said it is 5.5 X. But I didn't say it will be re-designated.

Since there was a lodestone 50 feet up that likely would have held a fall, an "R" rating is fair in the book  :-\

Reminded me of belaying A4 and A5 (the one A5 pitch I belayed).

It was pretty clear to me that a fall from 30 to 45 feet up (one broken hold) would have resulted in a ground fall (but the ground there is at least mostly grass and dirt, so it would have been a soft ground fall right?).

A fall from 60 to 80 feet up (one broken hold) would likely have been held by one of two slung knobs after a penduluming, slamming fall into a left-facing corner (might as well be dead).

Made me glad that I've led most of those types of routes at Pinns and don't need to do them again.

50 feet up is the coffin zone.
The name should be South Face of Death.

I edited my original post.
I have to say that the wide range of danger with R rated routes is very disturbing to me.

Climberdude sighting yesterday. JC and I did the coveted second ascent of a 95' 5.6 of Climberdudes' rope-solo creation. I was impressed with his stances for the five bolts, as 2 out of 3 holds might break off. We also climbed a fun turret at the end of a spur that climberdude had found last week(not the tomato colored one), then explored the whole area and a half dozen enticing possibilities.

Thanks for the input and making my case, you certifiable Mudsters.
