Not sure if California beer is better.  I can be argued that Washington has a longer history of beer production.  During the turn of the century 1800-1900 Washington was a major beer producer and shipped beer to Alaska supporting the Gold Rush and all the way down to California.  Hops still grow wild around the Puget Sound area. After a while they realized Central Washington was much more conducive to growing hops.

Cali has beer beer...

Let's forget about California (where coconut IPA was created :puke:)and Washington for a moment and focus our attention on Oregon. Rouge brewery has a beer that is fermented with yeast that was cultivated in the brewer's beard.

Our latest brew Dedicated to Beards, Beard Beer is brewed with a yeast created from Brewmaster John Maier's Beard. No Need to freak out, Brewers have used wild yeasts in beer making for centuries. John has had the same Old Growth Beard since 1983 and for over 15,000 brews, so it is no great surprise that a natural yeast ideal for brewing was discovered in his beard.

Hmmmm what's next?

I'm sorry, but you have to understand.... the Cali beer just tastes better due to the water.

Stolen fruits taste the best. Or however the saying goes.

That is why the San Diego beer tastes so good, since it's Colorado river water....
In the bay area it's Hech Hechy water.

Santa Cruz, the sacred San Lorenzo river....oh wait....
