BREAKING NEWS - MUNGIE WITHDRAWS FROM PINNACLES CLIMB IT ACCORD

Washington (CNN)  President Mungie proclaimed Thursday he was withdrawing the US from the Pinnacles Climb It accord, a sweeping step that fulfills a campaign promise while acutely dampening global efforts to curb Pinnacles climbing.

Speaking from the Ahwahnee Hotel, Mungie said he was open to renegotiating aspects of the agreement, which was inked under his predecessor and which sportos, except two have signed onto.

Mungie and Pinnacles don't mix, and that will have lasting consequences.
But he was withering in his criticism of the pact, which he cast as a humiliating defeat for
for Sierra climbers that unfairly advantaged mud masters.

"At what point does Granite get demeaned? At what point do they start laughing at you as a Pinnacles climber?" Mungie inquired during an afternoon event held in a sun-drenched Camp 4.

"We want sick crimps and granite slabs," Mungie said. "We don't want other climbers to laugh at us anymore."
