Teapot Dome MADNESS!?!
« on: March 22, 2018, 07:30:06 AM »
Has anyone been up on Teapot Dome? For a few years now I've dreamed of climbing the crack that goes all the way around it. My vision is to start on the North side and traverse around the steep and choosy looking west face and then out the gorgeous S-Crack on the South Face. Has anyone tried this? or why not? It looks potentially heinous with some serious bird dung, but i figure if there is dung there is a hold or pro there... Anyone up for a closer look in the near future? or have some closeup info?

Poison Oak is incredibly resiliant and strong. You should plan on tying it off with slings for pro.

Sorry...no tea for you.

The birds currently have control.

Upper Teapot Dome Crack is fun once the closures are lifted.

If you're still in the mood for PO afterwards the Lower Dome offers that - a Cook-proof route (redacted from my guidebook)

I'll watch from a safe distance

Oak contact on the left - no contact on the right (for comparison)

Ahh poison oak...

I was at the allergist on Monday..”any more questions?”

Yeah, do you have a shot for poison oak allergy?

“Nope, but patients tell me the more they get it, the less reaction they get”.

So it’s back to eating leaves...
I'm not worthy.

Not true for me.
Opinions and reactions are highly variable and every individual is different.
Some people are highly sensitive.
Eating leaves could potentially cause a fatal allergic reaction in highly sensitive individuals.
Don't get any ideas clink  :devildevil:

Just saying what the dr told me....except the eating part.

I say start with a 1/2 leaf a day. Maybe clink can slip you a little bit.

Talk about toxic crap!!

I hear you dude.
I went and got tested for a batch of stuff at an allergist a couple years ago.
The main thing they stressed was highly allergic to cats.

I'm allergic to dogs too. All I have to do is spend a few hours in a house that has dogs and I can feel myself weezing once I get away from the source. I am also evidently allergic to some local flora - especially Acacia trees. I am sensitive to something at Pinns too - especially when it is hot out. I had some pretty intense swelling and itching on the skin under my eyes last year at Pinns and at the Alabama Hills - undoubtedly a desert or desert-like shrub or two or three or four or...
The only thing that helped was cortisone cream for several days. All of that stuff is fairly new - within the last year or two.
Life is full of surprises...

Seems like an interesting line.  If I was in the area I would volunteer.

I'm not afraid of the Poison. But the birds are occupying the Teapot? I didn't know that was the official name until i looked in the guidebook Vicki send me.  I always just called it Dickhead because of the view of it from the parking lot. Brad, I have some recommendations for the new guidebook that we should talk about...

Keeping it real. Don't put me in a position to ask you to please come down.
Speaking of coming down - will you be gracing us on 4-20 dude?

Sensitive: All routes between the Egg and Teapot Dome, including Proclamation Pinnacle, Arch Pinnacle, Wedge, Ball Pinnacle, and Hunky Dory Rock
Okay: None

It says “All routes between the Egg and Teapot Dome”... doesn’t that imply Teapot is open?

Hoping to make 4/20 but apparently my project is off limits.
