My Tuolumne Tick List
« on: October 02, 2018, 06:00:57 AM »
I have a goal in life - hallah-freakin-lluah!!

Top out on every dome and peak in Tuolumne.  Not so much about what I climb, although that will certainly have something to do with it - but to get to the top of 'em.

There are a few that are far above my pay-grade (>10b) so I would like to think I could hike up the descent (and maybe pack some chocolate for the burly climbers coming down).

I've already ticked off DAFF and Pywiak - both fun and stunning!

So...for this weekend, of the few I have in mind, I'd love to hear what you would prioritize/recommend:

Northwest Books or North Face - Lembert Dome
West Country - Stately Pleasure Dome (although I must admit the descent on this one spooks me)
Shagadelic - Medlicott Dome
Cowboy Marmot - Marmot Dome
Isostacy - Dozier

So many domes, so few days!

NW Books might be chilly but I sure like it.

Stately descent is easy walk off the back side. You don’t have to go the slab way.

It probably snowed last night.

What??  Ratz.

Crud.  I got spoiled with perfect temps and skies (when the smoke cleared) this season.

Thanks!!  Happy to hear about Stately.

Dang - Saturday's crummy up there.

Looks like I may have to switch to a Valley Hit List...

Gotta make one first.

After Six is the only one so far.

Puppy Dome, that was where we learned to lead....nice 5.8 there.

Oh, and if by chance you decide to do the Yawn, don't leave your partner on the last pitch.....

Is it dog or Puppy Dome that has a cool 5.8? It's near the Lodge perking lot.

I thought one had a 5.8 and the other had a 5.9 but I would have to look at a guidebook.

Yes Clink....my brother and I learned to place gear on that crack.

Has to be 5.8 if it was my 1st gear lead.

The next day was Great White book......because it went to the top!

It's great, though I advise doing the upper section in two short pitches rather than one, Brit style.

West Country - Stately Pleasure Dome (although I must admit the descent on this one spooks me)
This is very runout - a bolt or two at most for the leader. I rappel the upper part and belay partners through the middle section. There's also a climber's trail off the back that takes about fifteen minutes to get you to the road.

Shagadelic - Medlicott Dome
Cowboy Marmot - Marmot Dome
I've had a great time on Marmot, but I don't recall exactly what or where.

Isostacy - Dozier

So many domes, so few days!

Be careful, the approach is long and the altitude is high.
