Sierra Eastside Fun
« on: January 16, 2019, 02:56:53 PM »
Today's forecast: too windy to ski, too wet to climb

What to do?  'Run of play' without the pain.  (32 degrees upon leaving the house - it did warm up for a bit though then went cold again)

Wheeler Crest

Mt Tom, more Wheeler Crest with part of the Round Fire burn area in foreground.  Most of the burn regrowth is invasive russian thistle.

Coastal fun for me today. Barely squeaked a uni ride before the real rain started to fall. Light rain as I mounted on the 6th try and pedaled away. Did my normal circuit a lot faster than usual (just over 50 minutes). It's hard to relax much when it's raining or threatening rain the whole time, cool temps (50's) and windier than usual - forecast said 20 mph - it felt like 18 a couple times with rain drops pelting my face as I pedaled southeast along the coast (you can see the ocean when pedaling the back straight).
I zig-zag through the 4 interconnected streets on the far end of the route and then head back to the shack Jack.

JC, why doesn't the map show the circles and spirals where did juggling for the kids and golfers?

J.C.: trying to figure out which road is which on your ride, do I see you taking Dolphin and going the "wrong" way, or am I misreading the map  :P  >:D  ::)

Definitely take Dolphin to get more hills. I don't have everything labeled as far as the zig-zag pattern on the back section.
