He was the best crack climber I ever knew. I was better on friction and face, so we were able to get up quite a few things we wouldn't have dared try without the other guy. He put up his last new route on grit when he was 79. Thanks for the condolences, all.

Did you ever get a chance to climb with him in Britain?My friend Ron Skelton has a similar friend, Andy, who he's climbed with a bunch in Yosemite, but with whom he's also managed to climb on several of the famous British crags.
My one trip was a delight. Except for the midges and the sheep shit everywhere. Lol
