Hey gang -
I just replied to JC via email but wanted to reply here as well.
Here's the short version - we have just recently confirmed a few condor nests in the park this year, and one of them is at Machete Ridge, where the condor pair nested last year. Usually condors nest at particular sites every other year, but the pair that nested last year is trying again at the same site.
Management staff at Pinnacles have been going through the process to get a mandatory closure put in effect, but it requires approval from staff at the regional level, hence the delay in posting updated closure information here and on the park website.
I didn't personally add the closure notice on the park website bulletin board, so that is why there is currently a discrepancy between the closure list and the notice. I will likely be updating the closure lists this coming week.
Machete Ridge will have another partial closure, basically following the same list that applied last year, with most of the west face and north faces still open for climbing. Climbs on the south and east faces will have closures applied to them, as will several upper pitches on the southwest face.
Another condor nest is active in the northern High Peaks, but there shouldn't be any additional closure of climbs applied to that beyond what is already covered by raptor closures for the area at and below Tuff Dome, H&L Dome, etc.
