Seeking PHP Forum Technical Assistance
« on: April 01, 2020, 11:27:19 AM »
Hi All
You all probably did not notice but the forum went offline today.  It was upgraded by our host.
The forum has to be upgraded.  The PHP platform is dated.  Currently seeking someone with expertise that can lend a hand in the upgrade.  If it is not upgrade the forum will go away.

you can post here or send a PM
Thanks

When does the forum self destruct?

Mudworm can't save the day?

Ahem, how do you think the site came back online so quickly?  ::)

With tons of higher priority tasks on my plate, I'm just not willing to spend the time on a major forum upgrade (to make it work with the newer PHP version that the hosting service tried to upgrade the site to). It's not straight forward, there's no guarantee things will work, and if it does not work, and yet you can't revert, then what?

For now, the PHP version was reverted, and we'll see how much longer it can hold off.

I don't want Mr. Mud to lose sleep over it if someday the Forum dies, so I tried to convince Mr. Mud that the forum might not be as indispensable as he thinks it is. All camp fires go out eventually.

Carpe diem.
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Even the sun will cease to shine. I hope this Forum goes for a measly 1,000,000,000 years or so.

Thanks for all the work you folks have done creating and maintaining it regardless of where it goes!  :)

I seem to recall this scenario rearing its hideous head on several previous occasions and the answer is always the same.
Like clink, I appreciate all the time and effort Mud and mudworm have put into it over the years.

Maybe one of the retired IT wizards we have as members would be willing to take on the task and risk an implosion before the doomsday clock runs out. Jim? Aaron? Bruce? anybody?

Alternatively, we can all give Peter Popoff a call and request the Miracle Spring Water. He is a televangelist listed as living in Bradbury, California (seems fitting eh?). Get the water, drink it, sprinkle it, do a mud dance, pray.

Nice Aaron! I hope they're able to use your help.

If there's any cost to upgrading it, I'd be happy to help with that.

This is too good a community to let it go.

Glad to see Aaron is still alive, never know with Klink or Kink.
