Halloween plans?
« on: October 30, 2020, 05:19:18 PM »
Whitney and I are headed down to climb at Smith Rock for the weekend. Thinking about dressing up and climbing in costumes. Since you are supposed to dress up as something you are not, I was thinking about going as an elite climber.....

Smith is really cool. Parts of it remind me of Pinnacles.

Anyone else have any Halloween plans?

Something you're not? You should go as a surfer.

Whitney? She could dress up as Mount Hood.

Good news.  There are no entrance fees for Pinnacles (only east side?) Until they finish the new pay booth.  The old one is gone.

Cut the day short to buy a new park pass and was told I cannot buy one until the end of November when the booth gets done.

I had not been to the East Side in over a year so there were some other new things.  They built a wall in between the store and the visitor center.  They must've got some of that government wall money or the info ranger does'nt get along with the concession people.  My imagination runs wild with that one.

Also saw all kinds of new trail signs, bike racks, new spiffy water fountain (same yucky water) and new parking spaces along the road.

The rocks are all still there but the strong winds in the past year must've knocked over a lot of trees.

Other good news.  The bees are not in the crack right now next to Cutting the Rug.  Maybe they will come back when it gets cold?  Hopefully not.

That's my Halloween Pinnacles Report.

Sigh, why do we need more walls?

That impedes paying the entrance fee and buying beer.

Noal, I’d have gone this morning.

Yesterday was an epic diving day in Carmel. The water was nice and clear.

I'm not worthy.

Nice, way to make it out to Pinns.

We had a lazy day and bailed on Smith and went to a local little crag. Ended up being really fun. There's not a lot of climbs here, but there were nice basalt splitter cracks. And the view!

Good to see you guys out and smiling.

Looks like columnar basalt. Might want to throw in a geology lesson in case anyone needs a nap,
