Any Gravel Riders among the Mud connoisseurs?
« on: January 24, 2021, 09:52:27 AM »
GS here, wondering if there's any fellow gravel lovers here among the mud? Looking for inspiration for new loops here in the SCZ/San Mateo area.

Favorite rides right now: Dirt Summit, dirt Madonna --> Eureka Canyon, Buzzard lagoon...

Old Stage + La Gloria near Pinns Eastside.

Throw down some suggestions!

Sorry, full suspension here. And 28’s slicks on road bike.

I ride gravel only to get to the pavement.

I had heard that one could do a ride around pinnacles and chalone via Gloria road, Don to kings city where 25 comes out.....love to ride it.

Man, descending Gloria road on road slicks would be interesting....I’d do it!

Sorry, I'm not a gravel rider. Many years ago, I remember being a bit mesmerized by Bruce Hildenbrand's trip/photo report he posted to SuperTopo titled: The Road to New Idria. Unfortunately, that post is gone now. Not sure what was the reason. We never got around doing it. I still remember my fascination about the ghost town.

Inch by inch, I will get there.

I'll take a look at those.

I have a gravel bike.  I like to use it to cut out riding on roads like skyline, page mill, etc. So, I ride a lot on the road too.

I like china grade to butano fire road a lot but not sure if that has opened back up yet after the fire.

Dirt alpine, Steven's canyon, Long Ridge, Purisma, are all fun on the gravel bike.

Thanks for your responses, everyone! @Noal, I agree with the big basin gravel and hope that it gets opened back up soon after restoration. My buddy at Graniterock is working up there on it. Purisima is a burly climb!

@NOAL, @F4, @mudworm

that deathride looks awesome, I am certainly down for that route, once the rain lets up a little bit.
