My swan song to choss bouldering in the Bay
« on: April 18, 2021, 08:13:29 PM »

Was an epic sesh. Almost died. Frost bite was bad. Avy danger off the charts of even the Daulaghiri scale.

All FAs. No signs of actual climbing. The one wall that might make a decent problem tops out into a poison oak bush. I left that for the next generation.

My guidebook to the area will come out in Spring of 2020.

Munge, I call you out on your ethics on that boulder.

I heard on a 2nd account that:
Excessive crash pads were used.
You employed a step ladder for hold preview and convivence hold scrubbing.

I'm not worthy.

All new problems were vegan and organically sourced.

Puttery is a good name for the consistency of some of the flakes.

well, several emails later, they at least sent me a screen print of what I had posted about the Supercrack of the Vargas Plateau. Allegedly its a 'sensitive area' which makes me think a non-climber as been added as an admin to mtn project since there isn't anything sensitive about the rocks, the public park, and the complete lack of any access issues.

Choss Quality Assurance Manager Mungie here.

Today I bring you new choss from the Gray Area.

https://www.mountainproject.com/area/107781311/castle-rock-boulder

The Direct South Arete of Castle Rock Boulder was sent today. 5.3*** Low angle VERY polished slab yields a series of reasonable holds that aren't total slip and fall lawyer material. Once on the summit you'll find a tiny PO bush and an old quarter inch bolt hole (no metal). Clearly the crag has seen lots of activity over the years. The north west face has a crack splitting it that looks fun, but I was skart at how slipperty it twas.

Get it while you can! Looks like the EB parks dept closed at least one of the other areas that was listed on mtn project.
