All of you have noticed a series of problems with the site. Punctuation converted to weirdness, an inability to post new stuff and posts that are locked so that they can't be changed.
It looks like these problems are fixed now, thanks to Aaron McDonald, Dennis (who's last name cannot be typed), and Mudworm.
Oh, except for the New Routes sticky thread. As I understand it, the individual posts in that sticky have gotten too long. Not too long for the site's rules (the words per post limit was removed some time ago). But too long for what the site can physically handle in spite of not having a words per post limit. I can't even modify those posts any more.
So I'll have to start over. I'm fine with that and here's the plan.
First, I'll start a new New Routes thread with a slightly different title. This will take a while. Instead of two posts covering all new routes there will be around nine. My current idea is to use a separate post for each set of 100 routes. So, one post for new routes which bear a number up to 100, a second post for those numbered 101 through 200 and so on.
We're pretty sure that this will work.
It'll take me some time to do all this posting though. In spite of rumors to the contrary, I have a life and I have a job. The Microsoft Word new routes document will need to be copy/pasted into a thread (easy). I'll then need to reformat to bold the route names and ratings and so forth. Again, this will take some time.
Once I've got all the posts in the new thread inputted and up to date, we'll make the new thread the New Routes sticky and remove the sticky designation from the old thread.
I've got a few requests though during this process. First, be patient. This should be easy since none of you have any other choice. Second, all of you please refrain from posting to the being-created new list so that all nine or so separate posts will appear in order without interruption. Having made this ask, there's no doubt in my mind that some dork will violate this "rule" either to screw with me or because this is the internet and no-one reads past three sentences. If so, I've got access to site administrators, and they've agreed to remove offending posts. And, if/when they actually need to do that, I'll then publicly label the offending poster as a dork and maybe try to offend them by naming a new route in their dis-honor.
Help out a little everyone, and post to this thread instead if you have any comments or questions.
