2023 FALL GET TOGETHER
« on: May 07, 2023, 05:15:56 PM »
November 3-5  I have a group camp site reserved for the annual climbing and hanging out thing that we do.      Super crazy that some of the group sites are already reserved.

Current RSVP list:

Noal
Brad & Vicki
Burnsbabe + 1
 BAP
Atomizer, Kelly
Beanolar+?
Marco, Mikayla,
 Laura
Shane et al

If anyone has a change of plans between now and the Thursday before camping post here so I can remove you.  Also, if you want to bring 3 or 4 people or want to sleep in your vehicle please follow JC's lead and reserve an additional campsite.  There's plenty on the site right now. Then we can all hang in the group site.  I love seeing and including new people but I also want to see all of the familiar faces which is about couple of dozen or so folks. Realistically not all of these folks will be able to attend (although it would pretty awesome if they did).  New attendees don't fret. Just as in the past there will most likely be room for everyone.  With that said I am not seeking to having a PCAD type of event with 100 people. Here's a little list of those folks in no particular order (except Mr. Mud he's #1 on the list):

Mr. Mud
mudworm
The Dawsons
Joel Primrose
Dave Harden
Jim
Waldo
Aaron and Dina
Caleb
F4
Jack and Freya

Noal: for clarity, campsite is for Friday and Saturday nights, November 3 and 4? And how many allowed in the site? Which site number?

EDIT:
We're in but got our own site (to give more space for others). We can share our site with one car and up to 4 more people if needed.
Group sites are reservable up to a year and others are 6 months - and they fill up fast (gets worse every year). I used to reserve PCAD group sites almost a year in advance. As soon as the event was over I'd reserve the next year.

Thanks for pulling the lever on a date.

Sounds ominous. We are in ........................................the middle of the Pacific that weekend, our last.

I was thinking you guys might want to stay in your RV.  I forgot to mention above there is only parking for two vehicles and those two spots are spoken for.  There is overflow parking nearby.

I would be interested in joining, as well as some of the other Santa Cruz/Watsonville crew... Brad/Noal, can I get on the list?

Sure. But try to narrow down how many will come (for obvious reasons) as soon as you can?

Sounds great Brad. My guess is that it will be about 3-4 people (total), but am going to call/text all of those folks today to let them know. Will confirm in the next 1-2 days.

Sounds fun. I'm in. Anybody have an issue if my partner comes? She doesn't climb, but would enjoy the people and the hiking around.

No, no-one would have problem with you bringing your partner. My partner Vicki doesn't climb and she'll be there.

I'm proud to say that everyone or at least almost everyone who will be there knows Vicki. Hell, she's probably fed more than one meal to each and every one of them (at our house, for climbing up on SPH). And there's only one way for people to meet people - bring your partner!

The nice, normal people(and trending to be of higher intelligence) are always welcome!

I decided to keep a running list at the beginning of the thread.  If there's any changes or new info I will edit the first post.

Sounds fun! Too early for me to commit, though, so don't put me on the reservation list. But it's on my tentative calendar. Hopefully I'd have one or two second generation Pinnheads with me. Mrs. lefh tbd. If I can make it, it would probably only be for one night, so if another party has the same issue we might be able to go splitsies for the weekend.

I will try to go for at least one day.  Not sure about camping over night though.

Noal, Thank you for organizing the event.

Hope to see some of you sooner than November.

Spoke to the Santa Cruz crew (Nick-me, Marnye, Bill, and Cormac). Three of us are in, 1 not sure/too early to commit. We are happy to Venmo money for campsites, etc.

Who has commitment-phobia?

We met Cormac yesterday at the Citadel.

Nick,  I don't know if you reread the beginning of this thread but I added some info.

4 people will essentially take up 1/5 of the total allowed in the site.  I am prioritizing the people on the list up top.  All of them are friends who have attended the Masters of Mud event we used to have every year.  This is basically the same event but not in its last incarnation which was similar in size to PCAD.

There are plenty of campsites available on Recgov site.  As it gets closer there will be none.  BAP last year brought a crew of people from Berkeley.  She got her own campsite nearby and it worked great. We all still hung out around the campfire.
