Bicycling is related to Pinnacles because when we were riding, all Mr Mud could think of was Pinnacles.  Really, it gets us in climbing shape. Maybe I can climbing a 5.9 or two at Pinnacles someday, and maybe Mr Mud can actually make one step towards being able to drink again.

Following is a ride we did on April 8, 2007:

La Honda -> Alpine and Skyline -> 84 -> Portola -> Old La Honda -> 84 -> San Gregorio State Beach -> La Honda

Inch by inch, I will get there.

Mudworm did excellent.  She dropped me on Alpine Road then crushed me on Old La Honda.  She road it in just over 31 minutes (stop sign to stop sign) not to shabby for her 4th road ride and first time up Old La Honda.
I'm who i am.

You're gonna have to get down below 15 to be a contender...  :D

I've only done OLH twice. Once I get my new bike I will be up that way a lot more.

But I am doing the Primavera Century with my dad in a couple of weeks. We're going to ride up to the start, so it should be an interesting day (about 140 miles total)...

Would a motorcycle ride count? I have to pick up a motorcycle to beat that.  :D

[Edit:] Mr Mud says I probably can't even beat that record on a motorcycle.

I think my goal will be to get down below 20... I'm not all that close yet, but one of these days I will time trial the damned thing. I just have to see how fast I can get up there.  :D

I rode past OLH yesterday on my singlespeed. That would be the challenge! But it was too late in the day to try the climb. Maybe one of these weekends.

Don't forget that it's the uphill side of the bridge where the clock starts. That extra couple of seconds could make the difference...

I timed my bike ride today about that well. I went downtown to watch the movie Hot Fuzz, then went to Una Mas and then headed home. It started sprinkling when I was about five miles from home, and then started raining harder about a half-hour later.

Tomorrow is the big ride, so hopefully the weather will be reasonable... 140 miles.  :D

Go F'ueco!  140 miles! That would make a very big day.  Let us know how it went!

Despite the wet roads for the first thirty miles or so, the ride today was excellent. The weather was beautiful, and I had no mechanical problems. Even now I feel like I could go for a few dozen more miles...  :D

 I'll post the map shortly...

Here's the route, not counting the 36+ miles round trip to the start in Union City. The toughest part was by far the west wins while coming back across the Livermore Valley and along Dublin Canyon Road (which parrallels 580 west of Dublin).

That's a nice looking loop. Wish someday I could pull something like that off.

That was after 140 miles.  Now I wonder what your saddle is made of.

Yesterday we climbed at the Pinnacles.  Tourists' Trap, the Monolith, Upper Crust, Top Rope (Teaching) Rock -- We were chasing the sun.

It was another perfect biking day today.  My longest ride so far.  Faster on Old La Honda this time.  Still couldn't pedal out of saddle yet, so I was spinning like a mad woman.

Inch by inch, I will get there.

Oh BTW, Mr Mud pulled me back twice on Old La Honda when I tried to pass him. After that, I didn't have the juice to pass him again.  He is evil!  And he even has evil horns!
