OUCH......quiet and increase. I suppose that's in line with the increase in the Golden Eagle pass too.

Well, they were quiet about it AND the are planning to increase the fee. :)

I am not sure about the Golden Eagle Pass but the new National Parks pass that is going to cost $80 supposedly is good for all Federal fee areas, including the forest service areas that require Adventure Passes.

America the Beautiful–National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Annual Pass: $80

This is an annual admission pass covering admission and standard amenity fees. This replaces the National Parks Pass and Golden Eagle Pass.

The New Government Talk sure does sound nice.  Wonder if the parks look better now.  I suppose I will never know, since cannot afford to buy gas after the summer price bump.

They look nicer if what you want is multi-million dollar restrooms and new concession stands every where you look. So much for being stewards of the land...

I bought the new pass this January.  What a sucker I am.  One month earlier could have saved me a lot of money.

The good new is that I bought it at Pinnacles and at least 80% of the purchase price goes directly to the park you buy it in.  The ranger thought they might be getting more than 80% with the new price.

That's what they told me to.

So what are they going to do with all that money?

Buy another partol car?

Maybe put in a new shitter or two.

Stock the Bear Gultch Res with fish?

My guess would be a new patrol car.  The spent a large sum of money draining the Res to try and kill the fish.  They actually dug around in the mud trying to find them all.  I doubt they succeeded.  Things that live in mud are  hardy and elusive.

Of course that lesson did not keep them from building a "pig proof fence" to keep all the feral pigs out of the Monument.  That did not work either.  I do not think it ever occurred to them that the "pig proof fence"  would be a natural barrier to "good wildlife".  Kinda funny how not to long after the completion of the "pig proof fence" they had a couple of incidents with Mountain lions.  Not that a "pig proof fence" would limit a mountain lions range or food supply in any way.

I always knew there were fish in there. I'm bringing my fishing pole the next time.

You know some local was bummed that his private fishing hole was ruined. All because the fish ate some frog.

I still think a new shitter at the res would be nice.

That's a great idea.  I'd love to have one of the Pheonix composting toilets like they have in front of Morning Glory Wall at Smith Rocks.

Solar powered with a fan and the smell of sawdust.

A new crapper at the reservoir? You mean the crevasse between the First and Second Sister is full?

I didn't know anything could live in that smelly reservoir except bacteria. Fish?! Come to think of it though, a couple of goldfish I put in there in 1971 seemed to live for a while. Maybe it wasn't as polluted back then.

Why did they remove them? What kind were they?

Ah, I just found the answer to my own question from the nps site. I am off the hook with my goldfish.

The catfish were put there by someone who wanted to fish at the reservoir. In 1985, park staff drained the reservoir and removed all the catfish (approximately 1700 pounds).
