Mountain biking is haaaaaard!
« on: May 14, 2007, 10:08:17 PM »
On Sunday morning, Mr Mud took me to Long Ridge area for a ride.  It's overwhelming how much is going on at the same time -- speed, traction, direction, obstacles, clips, and traffic on the trails.  Even uphill was hard when the front tire threatened to come off the ground and the rear tire was skidding.  On Saratoga Gap Trail (a single track), Mr Mud had to wait for me almost after every turn, which he did without complaints at all!  Maybe I should just stick to my road bike?  :-\
Inch by inch, I will get there.

Mudworm,

Don't give up! Mt Biking is all aboot leaps and bounds and with experience comes the fun of knowing you can clean just about any obstacle and climb any hill and then BOMB any downhill. It'll come, no worries. It just takes some time. Listen to Mr Mud on the finer points and try to apply them....or try his and modify them to fit your riding style. ;)

Yeah, Mudworm did fine for her first foray away from the local trails.  Yesterday she ran 7 miles at lunch then came home and rode the local loop.  After that she practiced in the yard for a while.  She will do well.  I figure in 6 months I will be getting schooled.
Here's to sweat in your eye
