Rock Creek
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:08:02 AM »
Heading up tomorrow for 11 nights.  Drop me a line if you want to climb anything in the Eastern Sierra from 9/15 thru 9/26.  Plan on hitting Abbot, Dade and BCS early in the week.  Split mid week (for speed). and the Palisades traverse on the 23rd or 24th.  Could be talked into anything on Whitney, Russell or Temple Crag as well.
eow!

What trail is it?  Are bikes legal?  How long is the trail?  Out and back, loop, more info please.

Munge, did you call Jim Mc??? He has a place near the bottom of Rock Creek (well sorta close) and might have made the trek over.
For that you really are dumb, but we still love ya!

PS, I hear Bud is coming out with Bud Lite Pomagranite.
I'm not worthy.

Rideen that trail countless times. Awesome ride...nealy killed myself last Summer when I rode the old hightway back up to the top. 95+ outside and its in the sun over 2500 ft on the climb.

Trail here somewhere:

Better view here of the lower cyn, BTW...tons of Owens like rock down here:

Amazing stuff:

Best views at the bottom:

The steed, she was happy that day:

And of course the best part of all of this is the icy beers at Toms Place when the ride is over. Tear it out and climb back up in 3 hours.

the rock is fairly gritty. from what I can tell it doesn't have the same density as the best that the Gorge has to offer.

Yeah- gotta be pretty drunk to get on that. BTW, found a Sierra Nevada green lable at the base of one of your SNP routes....some bolted 5.9/10a at the quickie mart

Actually he found it at the base of Fruit of the Vine, not Quickie Mart. Excuse him for loosing track, he soloed everything at both crags in a 45 minute period.

squiddo,

How many miles worth of trails are there at that place?

Is there more than one trail?  Other stuff in the area?

Not that much which explains why I lap it. The BEST ride I've been talking about involves riding UP Rock Creek 9 miles on pavement to Sand Cyn. From there you can ride 9 miles down trails and enter LRC for the rest out. The total mileage has to be over 6k vertical feet.

there's a lot of mileage, that's why I would shuttle it.
