My First Half Marathon
« on: February 03, 2008, 05:31:04 PM »
Feb 3, 2008 (Superbowl Sunday) Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon

Not the best weather (rained and strong wind by the ocean), but it could have been worse.

Course Map (not to scale). The run mostly goes through SF Golden Gate Park

Butt shot not just happens when climbing. It took the entire time when I ran towards and past Mud for the camera to turn on.

Got a finishers medal.

Inch by inch, I will get there.

Great job !!!  a couple of my friends did this today and I think my Vice Principal, I'll ask her tomorrow.  Because of a bad knee I haven't done one years. Looks like you had fun.  And butt shots are good, unless it is my old butt...  My sister(in her early 40's) just started running the last couple of years and did her first marathon last December.  Is a marathon on your agenda, it should not be a problem for you with a bit of training.  Congrats again   US

Nutty? No, munge, it doesn't take a nut to do HMs -- anyone can do it. Seriously. It's not that long. Not much different than hiking up to the High Peaks with a pack.  On the other hand, what Mr. Salad does, that, is nutty!

Uncle Stinky, right now that I have no desire to do a full one, but I have to admit that more than a year ago, I would have said the same thing about HMs. It's just I've heard too many injuries related to training for marathons. Plus, I can handle one or two short runs a week during lunch breaks at work, but training for marathons requires a lot more than that -- it'll take my time away from climbing and cycling. Hmmm... I don't see it happen.  And, I'm with Munge on this -- that marathon stuff is nutty.  ;D
