Greetings!
« on: August 18, 2008, 05:28:13 PM »
Hi all.

I found this site awhile back through a post by Salad (I think, at SummitPost.org, I think). Anyway, it looked like a fun local site, so I registered.

My name is Sam Mills and I live in Cloverdale up in Sonoma County. I climb, bike, fish and WORK! If anyone is up this way and needs help with anything, let me know.

My SummitPost username is Sam Mills.
My personal websites are:
www.porterfieldcreek.com
www.pfcgym.blogspot.com

Thanks,
Sam

I don't know, he looks suspiciously like someone that enjoys the outdoors.

Little does he know that we all secretly make this stuff up from the comfort of our cubicles.

Greetings!

Welcome to the site. Don't believe half of what you read on this forum. Scandals, vagabonds, and sandbaggers galore. If you fit in one of these categories, you will fit in nicely on this forum. If not, we still probably won't harass you too much - until we get to know you better. Then all bets are off.  ;)

I usually pass through Cloverdale on my way to Ft Bragg for Abalone. Is there any rock around there worth climbing? Nice country.

Welcome!

Thanks all.

Nothing of any quality. A few bouldering areas on the Russian River north of town.

Yup. The Mendocino Brewery pub. The brewery is now in Ukiah though. In Cloverdale we have Ruth McGowan's Brewpub, pretty good. 20 miles south in Healdsburg is the Bear Republic Brewery (Red Rocket), it's great!

Up until I posted this, I was thinking my casual weight gain was just middle age. Now I'm thinking it has more to do with my intimate relationship with fine micro beers. :o

Don't forget the Anderson Valley brew pub.

Yep, visits north are expensive for me. I always have to make my stops:
-Anderson valey brew pub for a case of the summer ale
-Husch for a few bottles
-Golden eye for 1 bottle
-Navarro or one odd bottle
You'd think I was an alcoholic with all the boze in my car coming home.

PS, do you dive for Abalone?

Oh yeah, I forgot about all the wine. Someday on your way home from the coast, detour out Dutcher Creek Road south of Cloverdale to the Dry Creek Valley (you come back to Hwy 101 at Healdsburg). Alot of good wine out there.

I used to Ab dive about 20 years ago, but then my suit shrunk and i never replaced it. Too many other hobbies going on and I never got back into it.

They're the best eatin' though. Them and oysters.

Dude your're talking WAY up north. I'd be down for that anytime. I've always wanted to climb up there.

Another cool adventure is to hike on the Lost Coast from Shelter cove.

Then, there's the Trinity Alps.

Don't forget bouldering at Bodega with Jerry.

But why go so far North.

Check out Ft. Ross and Salt Point State Beach. Supposed to be some good climbing there.
