I ran 10.3 miles last night for my first real run post-50. It went very well, and I began working on REALLY concentrating on forefoot landing. As a testament to my effectiveness, my calves are pretty frickin' sore, so I know I am doing it right. Not too mention I cranked out sub-8 min/miles at what felt like a very low PE. Of course I was chomping at the bit all week to start running again, so that may have had something to do with the low PE considering how excited I was to finally be back at out on the trail.
On a side note, another ultramarathoner was talking trash at my daughters cross country meet about making a shirt post-presumed Parent Race win that said she proposed to say, "My Mom can Beat Your Dad" T-shirts for her daughter. It wasn't directed at me, though I won the parent race by over 2 mins last year, but it certainly provided plenty of incentive to incorporate fartlek training over the next few weeks.
Nov 9th, the shit goes down, I'll let you know how it goes

On a side note, I started my 9 week swim focus, 2 times a day 3/7 and 3 other days with single session, each Saturday with a 2.4 mile swim. My arms are already sore and I am only 1 day into the 9 weeks hehe
