The first climb happens this coming Saturday on Montebello Road. I have not decided on participating yet. To explore other hill climbs than West Alpine and Old La Honda will be good for me, but I don't really feel that motivated, even though this is supposed to be very "low key". If I see others interested, it might help motivate me. F'ueco? (And your gf?) Uber? (And Kelly?) Others? C'mon! We can form a Mud 'N Crud team.

I'm out this weekend. My girlfriend is going for the Furnace Creek 508, so I'm crewing (along with her brothers). That should be fun!

I'm not about the series in general. I've been thinking of doing the winter series races put on by the San Jose Bike Club. Seems like a good way to stay motivated and fast during the off-season...

I've never been there. Thinking about doing it. That's is assume Mud gets his bike fixed.

It's only 4 miles, a perfect warm up for your 17 miler.

So how did the race go?

I ended up just doing the Calaveras Loop yesterday. So 43 miles with perhaps 1300 feet of climbing. Good times...

Mudworm climbed the rankings up from 3rd to 2nd in the women's field. I come up from last to just below the middle of the pack.

We need to get you and Joan to come to the races and ride for team Mudncrud in order to get us out of the basement.

I may do the race this weekend, since the Sunday in the SJBC series is also a hill climb (Henry Coe)...

Should be fun to race hills on consecutive days!

Joan will be out of town visiting her family, so won't be able to make this one. Perhaps Montevina the following weekend.

F'ueco, you beat me to it. Next time, I've gotta be fast in posting pictures. That way, I get to pick the pictures and hide those with our "huh" look. But I'm glad that we were not drooling in front of the camera.

I like this one slightly better.

Good question. Well, this time, the uni-cyclist was not there, but a runner was. He passed me, passed Mud, and passed 50 people in total to place the 20th.

I need something or someone to help me make up my mind too. I read on bikeforums from someone who just rode it that "Depending on how many people show up, it could be interesting at the start. There is not a lot of room at the bottom at the private gate and there are leaves and debris all over the road which is narrow. With the grade being tough at the beginning it could be a lot of jockeying for position with potential for tires to struggle for traction with riders out of the saddle." That does not sound inviting to me. I don't like it to have people ride around me. It makes me nervous. Maybe I should go volunteer instead or just go to pinnacles to make my husband happy. Hmm....

I think this is a good race for mudworm. All hill at the start.

What makes it difficult for us is the Coe Fall Circus ride is on Sunday. One of my, and I think our, favorite places to take the mtb's. In addition I really want to climb down at the Pins this weekend.

Mudworm and I will talk about it tonight and then post our decision.

If we do not do the low key climb this weekend it would be nice if you and Joan can ride with us next weekend. Well at least at the start. You all can wait at the top.

A fellow road diva just pointed out to me that Mud is leading the "most improved" category in this year's low key series.

pl  rider            scores    %/week
1   Mr. Mud              2     36.04%

So if he stops right here, he can guarantee this 1st place. Last year, the most improved won it with a meager 1.75%/week.

Once a sandbagger, always a sandbagger. Hahaha...
