They made the Calaveras Wall look way too easy... I'd guess the speeds were 12-14 MPH, but then, it's only a short (and yet really steep!) climb...

Thanks for reposting the photos. Wow, I could see the rain drops. You must have a fast camera -- you got three pics of Lance!
Inch by inch, I will get there.

I sat in rain for two hours in downtown Modesto.  I defended my spot about 200 meters from the finish line. I took some pics, but the funny thing is that the riders  flew by so fast I am not sure who in the pics.  LOL..  I had to go home and watch it on TV.  I had great time even in the rain..   I may shoot down to Merced to watch them take off for todays stage.

I just noticed that George Hincapie is right behind Lance... The reverse of how it always was when they were on US Postal/Discovery together!

Just a few shots here here,  Perfect weather today low 50's to mid 60's.  Kids got a few autographs and I got a few pictures.  I was around the corner from the finish but it was too crowded so I had to watch the last minute in a bar with a cold one.  I had to have the stage taped so I can watch it tomorrow.

Started in Merced- in perfect weather low 50's

Who is Bob Roll?? I think you two need to stop watching old Tour DVDs and get cable or Direct TV. Just something so you can watch the Tour on Versus!

Mr. Mud I thought you were a road biker.

Bob is despised (sp?) by the French.

Bob is despised by the French.  Yep and he knows it, that is why he keeps saying tour "day" France.  He is also on VS, network with their awful coverage. And continuous advertisements for hokey, cage fighting and bull riding.  He is also one of the best writers on cycling and has been a pro road and Mtb rider.  He cracks me up.  The biggest regret of the race I did not bring down his book to sign.

Photo of Daughter with Floyd's autograph.

She also scored a Rock Racing water bottle during the neutral part of the stage when the team car threw her one.  And both kids got Levi's autograph.  All I got was a Rock Racing "musette bags" at the end of the race when they were loading their cars.  I just asked one of their staff (a hottie) if they had any extras and she looked around (I don't think they were to be given away) and gave me one. It came out of the wash bag.

Nicely done...

I'm off to Solvang in the morning to watch tomorrow's time trial with my dad. Hopefully I'll get some good ones!

Watching bike races on TV is overrated...  ;D

Ahhh, the Tour Day France.

Fueco, the Solvang ride should be great. I love riding down there. Hopefully it's not too windy for them.

So maybe next year we should have a contest...who can get on Versus the most.

Mr Armstrong, do you want that bike now that the stage is over???

Sorry, a water bottle don't cut it anymore.

And if you do meet Lance say "aren't you the guy that dated that singer lady?"

Or "weren't you the guy in the movie Dodge Ball giving Vince Vaughn a hard time for leaving at the airport bar?".

PS, Fueco, are you saying it's easy to upgrade during the Tour? That'd be nice.

Yes, but don't steal Lance's bike. He'll have his Twitter Army after you in no time!

I deleted the post in favor of starting a new thread... I'm still working on the others; but packing for New Zealand is my priority at the moment. Leaving in three days!  :)

I'm glad that I asked because I totally did not see that new thread! Neither did Mud.  :D

Oh, New Zealand... I hope someday I get to visit that place.
